Our region has been hit with some fairly big snow the last 2 weekends. Well, not big snow compared to New England of course. Last weekend at least 6 inches (STS for all my pilot world friends) fell in our yard much to the delight of the boys. We all piled on our long johns, multiple pairs of socks, 2 layers of tops, snow pants, mittens, scarf, hat, boots and jacket to go out and play. It's a good thing we had all our winter gear from Korea as Sean is wearing the jacket and overalls we bought in China! Ryan's feet fit into my boots so he wore those and I was stuck with an old pair of sneakers that did not keep out the cold. He can't decide if his feet are big or my feet are little. The first snowy day was gray and windy with soft powdery snow that refused to be snowball friendly. I didn't last long since my toes were frozen but the 3 boys had a great time tromping through the yard and trying to throw snowballs at each other. Of course once inside we topped off the afternoon with some hot chocolate (as if you didn't expect that from me). Last Sunday was a much better day for exploring and snow building as the sun came out and the sky was a bright blue! We bundled up again and walked to a little hot dog restaurant about a mile from the house for lunch. I remember crazy snowy walks with my family in Maine to go to our favorite restaurant for chicken fingers and french fries and in Texas to the grocery store because we wanted ice cream. Once we even stopped at Blockbuster for a movie which was a real treat! Makes me laugh thinking about it. So I wanted the boys to have similar funny memories too! After we were home again, it was time for all of us to play in the snow - snow angels, down the slide face first, and our version of a snowman. The boys stayed out for hours! Luckily all this happened on a 3 day weekend so we where able to play again on Monday. School then was cancelled on Tuesday so I sent the boys out again for a bit. The snow did melt through the week and last night's rain took care of the rest. Until this afternoon when we got more! We haven't gone out to play yet but maybe tomorrow. Instead, today we finally lit a fire in the fireplace (our first one in this house and we've been here 2 years) and cooked hot dogs in it for dinner. Topped off with s'mores! It doesn't get much better than that.
